Betar Bangla, is a recognised NOCN centre, so that it is now authorised to deliver NOCN National Qualifications and / or OCNLR Accredited courses within the following Media and Communication sector.
ONGOING COURSES:
Windows Into Media (WIM) Project
WIM project will deliver 8x 12 week level 1 & 2 accredited media training programme particularly designed for promoting members from the BME community into employment in the media industry.
The programme will develop participant’s key competencies in 5 key areas directly related to working in media with the 5th area focusing on career guidance and access to employment activities. The training programme will lead on to nationally recognised London Open College Network (LOCN) level 1 & 2 qualification with portfolios in the following areas:-
1a) Script writing
1b) Radio equipments handling
1c) Radio and TV presentation skill
1d) Sound engineering
Our employment and career guidance activities will includes
2a) Introduction to the employment market
2b) CV writing
2c) Interview techniques
2d) 1-2-1 advice and guidance sessions
3e) Work placement (4 weeks)
Identification and recruitment of Trainees
WIM will promote the training programme to potential trainees using local newspaper and press, working with agencies that support unemployed/workless clients such as Jobcentre Plus and Connexion’s Service, attending training/job fairs, community events as well as working with other community organisation that work with BME community. The programmes main identification criteria for trainee will be: -
- Age 16 years and over
- Unemployed
- Resident of London Borough of Tower Hamlets

We worked with in partnership with umbrella bodies such as the CULTURAL INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT AGENCY (CIDA), Betar Bangla has, in the last three years, facilitated training for 143 Black and Minority Ethnic beneficiaries of whom 75% are now in employment. training programmes include:
- Digital video training for women, started in March 2007 for a total 50 hrs. over 10 weeks. Funded by London Development Agency;
- Music to screen training for the Digital Women Club, January 2007 – March 2008, total beneficiaries attended 8.Funded by LDA and ESF;
- Event Management, July - December 2006 for a total 40 hrs. over 10 weeks,total beneficiaries attended 10. Funded by Arts Council.
- Multi-Media Production, January – December 2005 and 2006, total 60 hrs over 10 weeks of total 40 weeks (4 session) for each year.Total 32 beneficiaries attended each year. Funded by European Social Fund and London Borough of Tower Hamlets;
- Young News Presenters 2004-2005 – News Production training facilitated for young people wishing to become presenters, funded by NRF;
Radio Broadcasting, January 2001 – December 2006, total 60hrs in 10 weeks, funded by European Social Fund.
